The Enchanted Florist – a trader’s journey
Monday 7th August 2017 12:06 Glossop Chronicle News Posted by Adam Higgins

As part of our series looking at the people behind local market stalls, every week the Chronicle will feature a profile of every trader on Glossop Market to tell their story. Here’s the latest…

There is something for all occasions at The Enchanted Florist on Glossop’s Indoor Market.

Charlotte Seville sells flowers for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, christenings and more.

The 25-year-old has lived in Glossop her whole life and farms sheep with her husband Jonathan at the back of their home on Turnlee Road.

She took over the stall in the Market Arcade earlier this year and feels that being a florist suits her well.

Charlotte told the Chronicle: “I had worked on the stall before taking it over in February. I haven’t made a lot of changes since but I decided to change the name from Mobile Flowerpot to The Enchanted Florist. I almost called it Florist Gump but I went with the more magical name.

“I like messing about with things and doing new things. I love being outside too so being a florist is perfect because I can explore outdoors.”

Explaining more of the products her stall sells, she added: “I have boxed bouquets for £10 which are really popular. I also sell planters and garden plants, garden signs and cemetery memorials.

“There are also bunches of flowers for £5 and I do seasonal flower arrangements and special ones for events such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.”

Until recently, Charlotte’s main job has been working in care and she has spent the last eight years as a dementia carer at Canterbury Care for three days a week.

She enjoys the hustle and bustle of the market and it’s something she has always wanted to be a part of.

“I always liked the market as a child,” Charlotte said. “A couple of my friends have market stalls too and I want to keep it alive instead of it closing down and not being there anymore.

“I like the tradition of the market and the community part of it. It’s something I want to keep going in Glossop for as long as possible.”

Charlotte is based at the centre of the indoor market arcade, either side of the double doors, between 9:30am and 4:30pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays but is also free and available to speak to during the week.
