Another Glossopdale good cause has received some badly needed cash, courtesy of M&S Simply Food and its customers.

Each financial year, the team at the Howard Town outlet choose a charity which staff and customers support through donations.

The good cause for 2016/17 was St Christopher’s Trust, Redcourt – the well respected Glossop award-winning care provider.

Throughout the year, M&S has raised money through events such as raffles, bag packing and bake sales.

Operations manager Tony Brookes, who is also responsible for charity, said: “Together, our staff and customers raised £1,328 which we recently handed over to the charity.

“With this money, and money raised from their own efforts, they intend to improve the facilities for their residents who require special care.

“The refurbishment will no doubt be welcomed by the residents.”

M&S Glossop’s Plan A champion David Barlow worked with St Christopher’s to arrange the presentation.

Since moving to Glossop, the store has played a big part in supporting the community, raising money for foodbanks, Reuben’s Retreat and the RSPCA.

This year’s charity is Cafe Jericho in Gamesley, a community faith-based charity which provides a meeting place to improve the life opportunities of local people.
