Two people rescued from car after Woodhead Pass collision

Two people were extricated from a car after a collision involving two vehicles on the Woodhead Pass last Saturday morning (September 9).

The crash happened on a section of the A6024 on Woodhead Road at around 9:12am, with both vehicles completely smashed up as they hit a barrier.

Glossop Red Watch and crews from Barnsley and Penistone in South Yorkshire used cutting gear to remove the pair from the vehicle and one was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Fire crews spent a couple of the hours at the scene and the police also attended to direct traffic.
